The MCX Stock Exchange Limited (MCX-SX), India's new stock exchange, is recognized by Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI).  This New one MCX - SX was the third national stock exchange of India after Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the National Stock Exchange (NSE). MCX-SX started its trading with 1116 listed companies against 1665 companies in National Stock Exchange and 5191 companies in Bombay Stock Exchange.

The MCX-SX Index is called SX40. where the BSE : SENSEX, NSE : NIFTY is formulated for measuring the economic performance through polished presentation of different industries as well as sectors based on ICB, which is a leading international classification from FTSE-100 of Britain. MCX-SX Abbreviation was Manifesto of Change Stock Exchange Limited. It is under the regulatory framework of SEBI and Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The Exchange was granted the status of a “recognized stock exchange” by the Govt of India on December 19, 2012, and launching on 2013.
