A passport is a document, issued by a national government, which certifies the identity and nationality of its holder for the purpose of international travel.
Online Payment is Mandatory From 14th June, 2013.
The Indian Government has launched the online payment as mandatory to avoid no-shows at PSKs, the payment can be made at the time of booking the slots on based appointments, applicants will be required to make payment at the time of booking appointment on the MEA website. Under the new process, payments can be made while booking an appointment on the official website – www.passportindia.gov.in payment can be paid either by Credit /Debit card (both Master and Visa) or internet Banking of State Bank of India. There is a challan option those who does not have the banking features that applicants can also use the Challan option provided on the website and deposit the money in State Bank of India (SBI) branch after generating Challan online. In such cases, upon the confirmation of payment receipt by SBI in online system, applicants can take appointment. Further, instead of applicant choosing the date and time slot of appointment, system will automatically give earliest available appointment .
Online Payment System will be applicable for taking appointments at following PSKs -
W.e.f. 14/06/2013, online fee payment is mandatory for the applicants seeking appointment under Ahmedabad1- Arya Arcade, Ahmedabad2- Sheetal Varsha, Rajkot, Vadodra, Surat, Jammu, Srinagar, Guwahati, Saligramam, Tambaram, Aminjikarai, Madurai, Tirunelveli City, Trichy, Thanjavur, Coimbatore, Amritsar, Jalandhar1- Eminent Mall, Jalandhar2- Aman’s Plaza and at Hoshiarpur. Online Payment System is already applicable at Dehradun, Chandigarh, Ambala, Ludhiana and Vizag PSKs.
For Online Payment System the User maust be Register firstly and have his/Her User ID for filling up the form, and later on by payment of fee the process continues and it can be given an appointment in the selected PSK with time and date mention on it.
Passport Processing Stages at PSKs :
First by having all original Documents with one set of Duplicate by attestation on it, the candidate have to reach the 15 minutes earlier than the scheduled time.
Stage 1 : By Checking at Entrance of appointment form the Candidate have to preside to first counter for checking of documents, if any of duplicates or any of originals are not presented the applicant will be rejected there itself.
Stage 2 : By checking at first stage at counter they will give one Token number for the applicant and He/She need to wait until token number displays on screen.
Stage 3 : Whenever token number appears on screen the candidate have to move to Counter A, which was the first counter that checks the Original as well duplicate and take all your Biometric finger prints a snap of your image, Irish after all done you need to pay the prescribed fee amount at here and proceed to Counter B.
Stage 4 : At this stage you need to wait another short while for Counter B, there checks the previous as well and sends to Counter C.
Stage 5 : This was the final checking counter that checks by the Top Level Granting Officer, there checks all at once and final he grants it.
Stage 6 : This was the final stage that by receiveing all the documents and at the final counter you have a Feedback form to fill, and hand over to the officer there and take over a form containg the complete details of profile and passport status, this keeps you to track the passport where and when it receives.
Note : Mostly the Police Verification will be done next working day itself, if not the next day, the candidate must be ready for the verification it self and after it sends to District SP office and granted to the passport office for printing of Passport atmost 25 days the passport can reach to the Candidate it he has a clean career.
Passport Types :
Regular passport (Deep Blue) - Issued to regular citizens for ordinary travel, such as for vacations and business trips (36 or 60 pages)
Diplomatic passport (Maroon cover) - Issued to Indian diplomats, top ranking government officials and diplomatic couriers.
Official passport (White cover) - Issued to individuals representing the Indian government on official business

INR1500 - Fresh or Renew passport (36 pages) of 10 years validity.
INR2000 - Fresh or Renew passport (60 pages) of 10 years validity.
INR3500 - Fresh or Renew passport (36 pages) of 10 years validity under Tatkal Scheme.
INR4000 - Fresh or Renew passport (60 pages) of 10 years validity under Tatkal Scheme.
INR1000 - Fresh passport for minors (below 15 years of Age) of 5 years validity or till the minor attains the age of 18 which ever is earlier.
INR3000 - Duplicate passport (36 pages) in lieu of lost, damaged or stolen passport.
INR3500 - Duplicate passport (60 pages) in lieu of lost, damaged or stolen passport.
